Denton Chiropractor offers Methods, Services, and Benefits for Pain Relief

A Chiropractor provides a specialized level of care to their patients. Most people who seek out chiropractic care do so because of pain in their back or their neck. However, a chiropractor actually can help you with your overall health. This is because of the belief that many health issues can be traced back to the health of your spine.

At A Family Chiropractic Clinic, we take an overall wellness approach when it comes to chiropractic care. Not only do we assist patients who are experiencing back and neck pain, but we help them live better lives.

Why You Should See a Chiropractor

When you experience back or neck pain, it can influence your entire day. The pain and discomfort can affect your mood, make you more irritable, impact your job and family life, and even limit your range of motion. People who suffer from chronic back and neck pain have to deal with these things on a regular basis. Their overall quality of life can begin to diminish when they have to deal with ongoing or reoccurring pain.

The Benefits of Seeing a Chiropractor

A chiropractor will help you realign your spine. Your spine has many vertebrae that can easily become misaligned. This can be due to:

  • Injury
  • Improper use
  • Poor posture
  • Overuse
  • Lack of exercise
  • Age
  • Other serious issues

When your spine is out of alignment, it impacts your entire body. Muscles in your neck and back must overcompensate for the misalignment. Ligaments and joints throughout your body will no longer function as well when your back is not functioning well. The misalignment can also put pressure on your nerves, resulting in pain, tingling, or numbness. You may also experience headaches or digestive problems as a result of being out of alignment.

Not only will a chiropractor help realign your spine, but the adjustments provide additional health benefits. Trapped gas can be released from joints. Blood circulation to the area will improve. Increased blood circulation means faster healing.

Your chiropractor can also help you on the path to living a healthier lifestyle. They may suggest supplements to help with your overall health. They may also recommend repeat maintenance visits to ensure that your spine stays in alignment over time. It’s also common for chiropractic care to go hand in hand with other treatment options such as:

A chiropractor will significantly help your health beyond just your spine.

Pain Relief

Pain is your body’s way of letting you know something is wrong. May people fail to get pain relief and live in constant pain. It can be associated with injury or disease. From nerve pain to headaches, the symptoms can negatively impact your life and those around you. Without pain relief, pain can seriously impact every aspect of a person’s life. Work can suffer as a result. Emotional and financial burdens can wreak havoc. In a nutshell, it affects the quality of life for every person suffering from acute or chronic pain.

While chronic pain may seem like something you have to live with, that is simply not the case. People often try various treatments, including surgery, medications and other things. However, many of them do not work. We use a multidisciplinary approach to healing that can eliminate or significantly reduce pain issues. We have several methods and techniques and create a treatment plan that is specifically designed for each patient.

Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine deals with the process of restoring the normal function of the body by replacing, engineering or re-engineering human cells, tissues or organs.

It’s a fact that your body has the innate ability to heal tissue that has been injured or is aging. This is accomplished when your body’s own cells perform the function they’re naturally designed to do, renew and repair cells, and differentiate into specialized cells. Healthy, young and effective cells have the ability to differentiate, or change into, the proper cell needed to heal an injury. Unfortunately, studies show that as we age the natural ability of our cells to renew and restore diminishes and our natural cells are far less effective than they were when we were young. We have many fewer healthy cells as our bodies age and we lose much of the ability to heal quickly and efficiently. So how can we introduce healthy, young, vibrant cells to your body to speed the healing process or combat the effects of aging?

Who We Are

Robert T. Howell, DVM, DC, FACO

Dr. Robert Howell has been in active chiropractic practice since graduating from Life Chiropractic University in 1981. Prior to that, he was a practicing veterinarian following his 1975 graduation from Michigan State University.

Dr. Howell earned his Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Veterinary degrees from Michigan State University. He is the first veterinarian to become a chiropractor and is the originator of what is now called Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation, which is a recognized sub-specialty of Veterinary Medicine. He continues as a licensed veterinarian so that he can continue to legally adjust animals in Texas, (adjusting animals in Texas without a Texas Veterinary license is illegal.)

After practicing Chiropractic for several years, he returned to college at the Parker College of Chiropractic and awarded the specialty, Diplomate of Chiropractic Orthopedics. This advanced degree is much like a medical doctor’s specialty in that it gives deeper understandings of the leg and arm joints function and non-surgical treatments.

Dr. Howell’s adjusting certifications include Motion Palpation, Extremity Adjusting, Manual Spinal Decompression (Cox technique), Thompson, Diversified, Pediatrics, and Kinesiology. Being adept in these techniques gives a higher level of competence for treatment of all ages and a very wide variety of conditions.

Certification has also been awarded to Dr. Howell in general physical therapy modalities, and most importantly Frequency Specific Microcurrent, (also known as FSM).

History of Denton TX

Denton is a thriving North Texas city known for its spectacular live music scene, vibrant nightlife, beautiful courthouse square, and two major universities. This is where Grammy-winning musicians such as Norah Jones and Don Henley honed their craft, a tradition that continues to this day at concert venues, bars, and clubs. Denton’s music scene alone is worth a visit, but it’s not the only thing this town has to offer.

Denton has become inextricably linked to the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The city was not a pioneering settlement. It was founded in 1857 to serve as the county seat because residents desired a location near the county’s center. Denton did not become a city until 1866.

Denton grew slowly in its early years, from 361 people in 1870, 32 of whom were Black, to 1,194 in 1880. However, the 1880s saw the city’s highest percentage growth of any decade prior to the 1980s. The population more than doubled, to 2,558 in 1890, after the Texas and Pacific Railway from Sherman to Fort Worth and the Missouri, Kansas, and Texas Railway from Sherman to Dallas, both completed in 1881, provided the city with a rail outlet. The Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railroad, which was built in 1887 across western Denton County through Valley View, Krum, and Sanger, missed Denton and was not connected to it until nearly seventy years later. Since Denton had only north-south rail connections, the town did not develop as a manufacturing and wholesale center.

The city’s growth in the first century was based on its role as the county seat, as a local agricultural trade center, and as a center for light agriculture-related manufacturing concerns, such as flour mills and cottonseed oil mills, as well as small cottage industries, such as pottery kilns and blacksmith shops. However, after 1890, Denton did have a feature that set it apart from the seats of other agricultural counties. When North Texas Normal College (now the University of North Texas) opened in 1890 and the Girls’ Industrial College (now Texas Woman’s University) opened in 1903, it became a college town. Although the colleges’ influence was minimal for many years, they ultimately did more to shape Denton’s character than any other single factor. By the 1980s, the two universities provided half of the city’s population and had a significant impact on its cultural and economic life, with a total enrollment of nearly 25,000 students.

Denton’s population increased rapidly from 26,844 in 1960 to 48,063 in 1980. Proximity to Dallas and Fort Worth, as well as good interstate highway connections, were important factors. Enrollment at the two universities increased steadily and, at times, rapidly.
